Pap Testing

Pap testing (also referred to as a “Pap smear”) is a procedure in which cells from the cervix are collected and examined to screen for cervical cancer symptoms and abnormal changes. This is a critical part of identifying the early signs of cancer or precancerous conditions, as well as seeking early treatment before problems worsen.

Most guidelines recommend that females over the age of 21 receive pap testing at least once every three years. To learn more about your recommended frequency, speak with a healthcare provider.

Smear Procedure

Your sexual wellness plays a significant role in your physical health, emotional well-being, and relationship with others. When you are proactive about your sexual health, you take a crucial step in preventing sexually transmitted infections and protecting yourself and others.

How quickly can STD symptoms appear?

The time it takes for STD symptoms to appear can vary depending on the specific infection. Some STDs, such as gonorrhea or chlamydia, may show symptoms within a few days to a few weeks after exposure. Others, like HIV or herpes, can take months or even years to show noticeable symptoms.

Some STDs may not cause any symptoms at all. That’s why regular testing and practicing safe sex are essential for early detection and prevention.
